This is a painting of Muscat port or Mina Sultan Qaboos. It is the largest port of Oman. Before being developed into a modern port to allow huge cruise ships in 1970 it was known as Muttrah port. Before 1970, for centuries Muttrah had been a crucial trading hub for goods from india and China ETC. Muttrah town was also a departure point for caravans traveling inland with fruit, fish, pearls and other commodities. Thus Developed one of the oldest souks on the Arabian Peninsula known as Muttrah Souq.

When the Portuguese colonized Oman they built the Muttrah Fort around the Muttrah town which enjoyed a strategic position on the Gulf of Oman.

With the development of the modern port, beautiful tall buildings have come up on the Muttrah coastline to handle the ever growing number of tourists. Thus, this painting of mine shows the confluence of the old fort and the modern buildings as also the confluence of traditional dhows (old types of Omani vessels) and Speed Boats.
