Digital Art versus Traditional Art

Traditional Art is an evergreen form of Art. However, Digital Art which is created using a computer, tablet or smartphone and a digital program (Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, Krita or MS Paint). Traditional Art continues to be sold in Art Galleries and Exhibitions. But Digital Art is sold in a different manner.

Digital art is primarily sold through three methods: as instant digital downloads, as physical products via print-on -demand, or authenticated digital originals (NFTs). Artists either list items on established online marketplaces or build their own storefronts to reach a global customer base.

here is a breakdown of how it works:

1. MARKETPLACES and PLATFORMS:

A.  DIGITAL DOWNLOADS: Sites like Etsy or Creative Market are popular for selling "printables" (E.G. JPEG or PDF files that buyers print themselves) and design assets like brushes, logos or social media templates.

B. CUSTOM COMMISSIONS: Platforms like ArtStation or Fiverr allow clients to hire artists for custom pieces, like character designs or book covers.

2. PRINT-ON-DEMAND (POD) :

Many artists sell their art as physical items without managing inventory or shipping. By integrating services like Printful or Printify with an online shop, the system automatically fulfills and ships printed canvases, apparel or posterswhenever a customer makes a purchase.

3. NFT and CRYTO ART:

For authenticated digital originals, artists sell their work on blockchain(blockchain acts as a ledger where monetary transactions or information are recorded).

A. HOW It WORKS: Art is "minted" as a NON-FUNGIBLE TOKEN (NFT), creating a provably scarce digital certificate of ownership. NFT is the unique and indelible signature of the owner of the digital work of art - which can be given away or sold. This means that an NFT serves to give value to that particular artwork, despite the countless unsigned copies that circulate on the network, and in addition whoever is the owner of the signature or token retains it's copyright. Thus digital artwork with an NFT is live on a blockchain of any one of the Cryptoart or NFT platforms. An NFT platform, an online space is used to  facilitate artists in the creation, buying and selling ofInstagram, TikTok, or Pinterest. their artwork. These platforms like Google acts as a store of  NFTs for the artists.

B. WHERE IT"S SOLD: Marketplaces like OpenSea or SuperRare process these transactions, which are usually paid in Cryptocurrency like Ethereum and verified by Digital Wallets.

4. DIRECT SALES AND OWN WEBSITES:

Many successful digital artists build their own online stores using platforms like SHOPIFY or SQUARESPACE. This route offers full control over branding but requires artists to drive their own traffic through social media marketing on platforms like

Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest.

I completely agree. The value and demand of conventional art can never be undermined.

It is always exciting to explore new technoly and new platforms to keep thinking process alive and it is only then one can appreciate the conventional rules of classical art.
