Humankind can only prevail, if we allow our posterity to decide for themselves if people who brought about

change need to be cherished or reviled.

Men such as Christopher Columbus, had 

the courage to leave their comfort zones & discover 

new territories like the continent of America. 

But he landed in the islands of Bahamas,so America is  not named after him but after the person who not only preceded him but also set foot on the continent.

However, he is one person whom some cherish while others revile!

Those who hold him in high regard are the people who realize that had it not been for his fearless leadership , his adventurous nature to venture into the unknown,

the Map of our world would have  been incomplete . 

However, he needs to be despised as well because of the treatment he meted out to the residents of the island who welcomed him & provided shelter and food for all 

the seafarers. For those who aren't aware of the facts ---

he was so cruel with the inhabitants, that he enslaved  them & seized their houses. He maimed all those who resisted him.

For my Arab friends who consider hospitality to be a very important part of their culture, may they learn a lesson from Christopher Columbus that they must check

out the seafarers & travellers in general before welcoming them

The barbarism of Christopher Columbus was known to all those who erected his statue in several cities of the United States Of America but yet they believed in looking at the positive side of his endeavour. They may have been wrong but by demolishing the statues no one can redress the wrong.

I am an advocate of what President Barrack Obama did

in his tenure. He commissioned a museum to be built in New York to record the history of slavery in America and

to show that it is considered the dark period of their history, the museum will be painted in black. The fact that he served as the president of America for 2 terms goes to show that all Americans are not racist.

Therefore, let the future generations decide whethet the

People like Mao zei Tung, Karl Marx etc are infallible or

are they to be revered along with their shortcomings.
