The name Fatir or Originator is name of one of the chapters of the Holy Quran.  Only God can initiate the creation from nothing. No one can imitate God in this Matter. Without raw materials nothing can be created.

The word fatara means the creation of primeval matter to which further processes have to be applied later; as when one prepares dough but leaves the leavening to be done after. Thus, the creation of pristine man from clay refers to his physical body, leaving the further processes of breathing in of the soul etc for a later stage. This means that with the breathing in of soul man is given an understanding of what is sin & impiety so that he can be pious in the special circumstances that he may be placed. This is the most precious gift of all, the ability to distinguish between right & wrong. This helps him in choosing the right path so that he can achieve success & salvation;if not then he  himself would be responsible for his perdition.

As man’s knowledge of the processes of nature advances, he sees how complex is the evolution of matter itself, but this knowledge leads the pompous man into dwelling about the proximate causes & soon forgetting the primal cause, the cause of all causes, the ultimate hand of god in creation.

Therefore, I feel that this name of God has a truly humbling effect on one because it reminds us of our origin from dust & of course our destination back to dust.
